Case Studies
Cannock
Ground penetratingradar (GPR) and GPS surveys were completed from the Gas Alliance. As part of the mains replacement scheme, Rook Services were using GPR to undertake electronic trial holes to identify utilities and provide information to the client for gas main renewal. Each location was ground radar scanned, pinpointed using GPS and pictures were taken for the client. The collected information was transferred into ACAD format for design and construction use.
Carrington 400Kv Substation
The electricity Alliance West commissioned Rook Services to undertake a GPR and GPS survey of the 400Kv substation in Carrington. Rooks survey was to identify any services using Ground penetrating radar so that construction could commence safely. All areas which were ground penetrating radar surveyed were heavily built up with anchor points in place, existing banks being excavated and tower locations under construction. Rook Services completed the survey highlighting utility assetswhich were not on existing plans and also services which were not there, that had assumed to be. Furthermore the ground penetrating radar survey was highlighted as being a cost effective method to use more frequently for the client.
London
The client commissioned Rook Services to undertake a GPR survey to aid in the design of a 400Kv cable route. Rooks services teams collected information regarding bridge depths, critical construction points, and underground services. The data from the GPR was then presented to the client in ACAD format to help in their decision about the cable route.
Avonmouth
Our remit for this scheme was to evaluate a 6,000,000m2 area. Looking at potential routes for a new 400Kv circuit. Over a ten week period the teams of Rook Services survey unit were dispatched across Avonmouth where foot surveys and full GPR and GPS data was captured. The results of the data were converted into full ACAD drawings for the client to look at potential routes across the area. Rook Services adopted the very latest in electronic trial hole technology to establish some of the routes for the scheme.
Exeter
On a recent scheme Rook Services carried out GPR surveys to confirm depths of cover across a pipeline recently installed within the Exeter region. Results were converted to ACAD drawing where profiles were produced for the client.
Kenilworth
Rook Services recently completed a GPR and GPS survey under the watchful eye of the heritage trust. On the archaeological site that was being surveyed a number of sensitive areas were identified by the trust during a brief from the West Midlands Gas Alliance who were proposing to replace a 4” CI gas main. Following the survey all the results were converted into Auto cad and reports forwarded to the Heritage Trust.
